A player profile looks like a single object. A card with a role, a team, a K/D ratio, and a small form arrow. The reader who treats it that way ends the season with a stack of cards that contradict each other, because the same number means different things on a duelist than on an IGL, on patch 14.6 than on patch 14.7, on the Apex Series than on the Nexus Cup play-in. The profile that actually works is the profile read as a small system: five numbers, two events, role context set first.
This is a bounded evergreen explainer for the Zino player profiles index, written because the search intent behind the hub keeps producing readers who land on a profile and ask which number on the card they should believe. The honest answer is none of them, on their own. The five together, held against the last two events, give you the read.
The five numbers, in the order the desk reads them
Role is the first number the desk sets, because every other line on the card is interpreted through it. A 1.30 K/D on a duelist is the floor of the role. A 1.30 K/D on an IGL is unusually high for the role and almost always means the IGL is doing volume work that an analyst desk should question. Region is the second number, because it sets the qualifier tier the player cleared to reach the current roster. A rookie who joined from an open qualifier and a veteran who came through a closed league are not the same kind of profile, even if the K/D matches.
K/D, signature map, and patch context are the three lines that move week to week. K/D is the most-cited and least-useful number in isolation, because it scales with team form and patch tempo. Signature map is the one map on the card the player does not rotate off, and it is usually the strongest signal of how the rest of the team's map veto actually works. Patch context is the smallest line on the card but the one the desk reads first when a new patch has dropped, because the same K/D on two patches often means two different players.
The two-event check
Single-event stats lie. A 1.42 K/D over a four-map series is a hot streak. A 1.42 K/D over twenty series across two events is a form line. The desk's standing rule on profile reads is to take the current event and the prior event, weight the current event more heavily, and treat anything earlier than that as historical context rather than a present-day signal. The same rule applies to transfers: a player who swapped rosters between the two events has a broken form line, and the desk treats it as a new profile until the second event under the new roster is complete.
That is the move the profile card does not show on its own. The desk's profile update process refreshes the role, region, K/D, signature map and patch context together after each completed event, and re-weights the form line as soon as the second event under the current roster closes. Until that second event lands, the profile is labelled in transition, and the desk's read on it is conservative. A reader who wants to know whether the transfer worked should be looking for the second-event line, not the day-one read.
Why one number is not enough
Counterfactual: if the desk had to keep only one number on the profile, K/D would survive the cut, and the profile would become misleading. Duelists would look fine, IGLs would look overvalued, supports would look replaceable, snipers would look niche. A single number selects for one role and punishes the others, which is exactly the pattern a casual reader ends up with when the season does not match the bracket expectation.
The reverse counterfactual is more useful. If the desk kept signature map only, the profile would still misread on transfers, because the signature map of a veteran often survives a roster change while the K/D does not. The two-event check is what binds the signature map to the form line, and it is the part of the read that a single number, no matter how carefully chosen, cannot replace.
What the next roster move changes
Roster moves are the most common reason a profile stops being readable on its own. A transfer resets the two-event check, because the new roster's map pool and patch tempo are different from the old one's, and the player's signature map either fits the new context or it does not. The first event under the new roster is a stress test of the signature map; the second event is a stress test of the form line. A transfer that breaks the signature map is rare, and usually means the roster fit was wrong. A transfer that breaks the form line but keeps the signature map is a patch tempo problem, and it resolves on its own once the patch settles.

Profiles in transition carry a tag the desk applies at the source update, and the read on them stays conservative until the second event closes.
